John Brady will unpack some of the most profound and beautiful verses from the text called WISDOM by Nagarjuna. Arya Nagarjuna lived in the second century C.E. and is regarded as the founder of the Madhyamaka school of Mahayana Buddhism. Some even say he was a second Buddha! Some of his most important work were the Mulamadhyamaka-karika (‘Fundamental Verses on the Middle Way’), the Yuktisastika (‘Sixty Verses on Reasoning’), and the Shunyatasaptati (‘Seventy Verses on Emptiness’).
John Brady is one of those special beings who has had the opportunity to study the open and higher teachings of buddhism and complete a three year solo silent meditation retreat. He is also the director of A.L.L. and teaches for the Sedona College of International Management as well as the Diamond Cutter Institute.
John Brady is the Executive Director of the Asian Legacy Library, a not for profit, which digitally scans, catalogs, and transliterates countless thousands of ancient wisdom texts. The Asian Legacy Library distributes them at no cost, online, to scholars and university graduate students internationally.
John is a senior teacher for the Asian Classics Institute, The Diamond Cutter Institute, and The Sedona College of International Management. He is a meditation teacher for a New York City based meditation training organization which offers a 6 - week training on traditional meditation systems based on an 8th century master of Buddhism.
He studied and practiced meditation with Eido Shimano Roshi, an authentic master and lineage holder in the Rinzai tradition of Japanese Zen Buddhism. John was on the board of directors of The Zen Studies Society from 1985 to 1995. He studied and practiced with Edo Shimano for 14 years. In 1996 John met Geshe Lobsang Tarchin and Geshe Michael Roach. He began the rigorous 36 course Buddhist study program which ended in 2010. John then entered a 3 - year, 3 - month, 3 - day silent meditation retreat on December 26th of 2011 and re-entered the world on April 2rd 2014. He became the inside director of the 3 - year retreat in 2012.
