About this past Class
This is a 1 hour class covering and fundraising on behalf of timeless asian philosophy being preserved by A.L.L.. It is open to all levels and accessible to the public for later viewing if you are a member, in the private FB group "Guides" section.
We will learn about Word Smiths recently published book "The Golden Key" (purchase here) , and how the Mind only school believes we plant seeds for peace in the mind. The Mind only school originated from the third turning of the dharma wheel by Buddha Shakyamuni. Throughout Shakyamuni’s life he gave different kinds of answers/philosophical views to different questions. We think this was skillful means in order to meet each person or viewpoint wherever they were at. Just like each person needs different kinds of medicines even if they have the same sickness as others’, there are many different antidotes to different mental afflictions that are unique to the individuals needs or karmic propensities.
In this class we will learn on the 5 great schools if India's perception of how a mental seed for peace is planted.
WHY IS KNOWING THE MIND ONLY SCHOOL HELPFUL? Knowing different schools of thought on how to create reality can help you recognize what mental state you or someone else is in. This will help you spiral upward when you know how to communicate with different worldviews.
What are we fundraising for?
Lightning Club is paying special attention to Asian Legacy Library's activities in Nepal. Did you know that for the past three years we've been working on building a new input center in Kathmandu, Nepal, in collaboration with NIBS (Nagarjuna Institute of Buddhist studies)!? We need to raise money to finish the ALL input center in Kathmandu, so that we can save these texts from being lost and so we can share them for free in the A.L.L. digital library to be translated.
Donate here to raise money for Sanskrit manuscript preservation in Nepal.

Word Smith was born right outside of New York City. He was raised in the Bronx by two
Jamaican immigrants until the tender age of four. He graduated from Bensalem high school at
age 17. He went on to Temple University in Philadelphia where he completed a Bachelor’s
degree in Philosophy.
Near the end of school, Word had an existential crisis where he deeply questioned his
mainstream education and the use of life in general. After this crisis and months long reflection
Word decided to discover deep truths about life beyond what school had to offer. He traveled for
three years, reading on his own and learning in whatever ways he was drawn. During this time
Word studied Permaculture, Chinese Medicine, Tai chi, Capoeira and Whole Foods nutrition
amongst other things.
After three years of self-study Word decided to get more formal training in the things he had
been learning. He found a school in California called the Heartwood Institute that specialized in
holistic healing. Word resided Heartwood on-and-off for four years as student, teacher’s
assistant and teacher.
After Heartwood, Word went on to become a Doctor of Medical Qi Gong. This course of study
took three years to complete. Afterwards Word opened a clinic with one of his teacher’s in Santa
Cruz California.
So after a year of having a clinic, Word moved on from the brick and mortar location to phone
consultations instead. At the same time he moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to Geshe
Micheal Roach in an effort to become a translator. After some months he was offered a job to
create an electronic dictionary out of an existing work. He is still working on that project to date
as well as translating other texts on the Mind-Only school of Buddhism.
We want to support Word's translation as well as our partner Diamond Cutter press, that publishes ancient manuscripts (once translated by Diamond Cutter Classics and other scholars) from the Asian Legacy Library digital library. You can purchase this recently translated and published book from Dimond Cutter Press below
